HVA Retreats to Recharge and Refocus

HVA's spiritual revival is in full bloom! From device-free days to nature-filled nights, our community is rediscovering the joy of connection - with each other and with God. Seniors recently returned from their epic Senior Survival adventure, and now underclassmen are preparing for their retreat.  Join us in prayer for a weekend of profound growth, lasting impact, and memories to cherish!

Our Senior Survival retreat was an unforgettable adventure that began with a breathtaking vista at High Rock, where the majestic landscape stretched out before us like an unfurled canvas. The awe-inspiring view set the tone for our journey, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that awaited us.

As we embarked on the long, challenging hike that followed, Principal Gettys led the charge, guiding us through rugged terrain and forging unbreakable bonds among our class. We pushed through physical exhaustion, relying on each other for support and encouragement. The hike became a metaphor for life's journey, teaching us resilience, teamwork, and the value of perseverance.

After reaching our destination, we gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, laughter, and tears. Teams of seniors led powerful worship sessions, reminding us of God's unwavering presence in our lives. The flickering flames illuminated our faces, reflecting the joy, vulnerability, and camaraderie that filled our hearts.

But during our solo time, TAG (Time Alone with God), the retreat took on a deeper significance. We dispersed into the woods, finding secluded spots to reflect, journal, and pray. The stillness of nature allowed us to quiet our minds and listen to the whispers of our hearts.

And then, there was the deer.

We stood frozen, a collective breath held, as a majestic deer emerged from the underbrush. For nearly an hour, we watched, mesmerized, as it stood peacefully as if waiting for our next move. It was as if time had stopped, and we were reminded of the beauty and wonder surrounding us.

As we departed Caledonia State Park, our buses carried tired but renewed spirits. We had discovered the strength of our bonds, the depth of our faith, and the beauty of solitude. The Senior Survival retreat left an indelible mark on our hearts, a testament to the power of community, nature, and the still, small voice that whispers truth.
